Six Indians who were among those who were repatriated from the Maldives have tested positive for Covid-19.

Indian news outlets have reported that the six individuals are natives of Tamil Nadu state. Further details of the new cases have not been revealed by the Indian government.

The Indian Navy Ship INS Magar evacuated 202 Indian nationals from the Maldives alongside INS Jalashwa that repatriated 698 Indian nationals to Kochi last week.

Earlier, Indian news outlets reported that two returnees from the Maldives tested positive for Covid-19.

The National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) revealed that authorities are yet to receive any such information from Indian authorities.

Following this, the government has not revealed further details regarding these cases.

99 Indian nationals are included among the over 1,000 Covid-19 cases reported in the Maldives thus far.
