The number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the Maldives has surpassed 1,000, with 38 additional cases reported on Friday.

In a Twitter post on Friday evening, the Health Protection Agency (HPA) revealed that the new cases include 29 Maldivians, eight Bangladeshi nationals and one national from Nepal.

With this development, the total number of Covid-19 cases in the Maldives has risen to 1,020.

The authorities have predicted the country to be headed into a Covid-19 surge within the next two weeks.
