The government will be covering the expenses for additional resources at Tree Top Hospital, revealed the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC).

Speaking to press on Saturday night, the Covid-19 task force’s spokesperson, Mohamed Mabrook Aziz revealed that the private-owned Tree Top Hospital established in Hulhumalé has been assigned the “Primary National Covid-19 Treatment Center” under a Memorandum of Understanding signed with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on April 26.

In light of this, the spokesperson highlighted that government will be providing essential resources such as medical equipment, electricity, water, consumables, pharmaceuticals and utilities for Covid-19 patients receiving treatment at the hospital.

Further, the government will also be arranging for the increase of ICU beds at the establishment.

Mabrook also noted that the frontline workers at the hospital will be provided their salaries without interruptions.

The Tree Top Hospital project is divided into four stages, and once the fourth phase is completed, a 100-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 60-bed isolation facility will also be established at the facility.
