Isolation facilities in Maldives
Herathera Island Resort allocated as the southernmost isolation facility

Minister of Tourism, Ali Waheed has revealed that an isolation facility specialized for the southernmost atolls has been established in Herathera Island Resort in Addu atoll.

The minister stated that facilities have been established across north and south of Maldives. As such, the isolation facility established in the south is in the largest southernmost resort, Herathera Island Resort.

The resort has a 270-room capacity and discussions are currently underway to allocate an island for backup operations.

Northernmost Hideaway Resort has been converted into an isolation facility and authorities are currently working to move patients from Shaviyani and Haa Alif atolls to the facility.

The resort currently has about 100 rooms and discussions are underway to allocate a “standby” resort in the north as well.

As of Sunday morning, there have been a total of 519 confirmed Covid-19 cases in the Maldives out of which 18 patients have recovered. There are 447 individuals in isolation and 1,311 individuals quarantined.

Maldives has seen one Covid-19-related death thus far, with six individuals currently receiving treatment at Dharumavantha Hospital.
