An additional Covid-19 case has been confirmed from Narudhoo island in Shaviyani atoll.

A source which wished to remain anonymous confirmed the matter to RaajjeMV on Saturday, this development pushes the total case count to 11.

The source revealed that the new case is linked to the first Covid-19 case from the island, the captain of “Amaaz” boat.

The boat and the island were brought under monitoring after the 49-year-old captain turned positive for the virus.

A total of 11 individuals have tested positive for the infection thus far on the island, including family members of the captain.

Narudhoo island has the second highest number of Covid-19 cases other than capital Malé City.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) earlier confirmed that 101 primary contacts of the boat captain had been identified.

The captain is to have taken 98 passengers to 13 islands in the north from locked down capital city Malé.

Further, the task force on the island earlier revealed that entering and leaving has been banned for eight households.
