Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) is to host a special webinar revolving around solutions to overcome the Covid-19 crisis.

The webinar is being held in association with Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) and the globe’s largest travel platform, Tripadvisor, said MMPRC.

Titled “React, Rethink, Recover: Solutions to the COVID-19 Crisis and the Maldivian Tourism Industry”, the webinar is exclusively designed for the marketeers of the Maldives tourism industry and will be held on April 27.

MMPRC has been making every effort to rise to the "challenging situation" and find means to keep the island nation “visible on the travel radar”, said the company’s Managing Director, Thoyyib Mohamed.

Damian Cook, CEO of E-Tourism Frontiers, known for having effectively managed global tourism crises including the SARS and Ebola outbreaks, will be leading the 90-minute webinar.

The webinar will offer practical assistance moving “beyond reassurance” alongside information into solutions outlining a “prioritized plan” that can be followed by organizations.

In addition to MMPRC MD Thoyyib, CEO of PATA Dr. Mario Hardy, Director of Communications and External Affairs of PATA Paul Pruangkarn, Group Head of Destination Marketing for Asia Pacific at TripAdvisor Sarah Mathews as well as Business Development Manager for Asia Pacific at TripAdvisor Leon Chan will be speakers at the webinar.

Those interested in joining the webinar may registeronline.

At a time the pandemic has been sweeping steadily across the entire globe, the Maldives tourism industry has also been subject to its adverse impacts. Due to the this, the webinar will focus on assisting tourism marketeers to react, plan and manage the situation that is “still evolving” on a daily basis. It will also prepare them for eventual recovery.
