SIMDI Group has announced the top 15 participants for the highly anticipated Monin Cup 2024.
The company held an engaging press conference to announce the top 15 participants in the cup, an event that aims to celebrate the innovation and excellence in the beverage industry.
The presser was carried out by General Manager of SIMDI Group Yooshau Saeed, Head of SIMDI Beverages Adam Ramic and Cluster General Manager, Operations & GM of Taj Exotica Resort & Spa Corinna Luebbe, at SIMDI Head Office on the.

Speaking at the presser, Yooshau revealed that the group has been the exclusive official distributor of Monin products in the Maldives since 2010 and presently offers a wide range of products and hopes to introduce more in the future.

Presently, SIMDI Bev offers over fifty-two syrup flavors, over 17 fruit mixes, 3 frappe powders, and 2 gourmet sauces from Monin in the Maldives. The presser also saw the group’s Head of Beverages shedding light on the details of the event as well as the rules and regulations to be followed by participants.
Ramic went on to brief the media on how the selection process went for the top 15 participants and highlighted that the registrations for Monin Cup Maldives was higher than most national events held at other countries.
According to SIMDI Group, the event has received a very positive response from industry professionals in the island nation.
Speaking at the presser, Luebbe extended heartfelt gratitude to SIMDI Group for partnering with Taj Exotica Resort & Spa for this year’s Monin Cup.
She went on to shed light on the significance such events pose, by creating a platform for mixologists.
The highly anticipated event was organized by Monin International and brings together the island nation’s top mixologists to compete for the chance to represent the Maldives on the international stage.
Monin International sets rules and guidelines for the Monin Cup, which in turn ensures a fair and exciting competition for all participants.
The online registration process required all participants to submit their recipe, after which Monin International selected the top 15, based on the recipes that were submitted. Registrations proceeded from May 15 – June 1. All participants who are professional bartenders or students from bar schools, who are 27 years or younger, were eligible to participate.
The competition will take place at the luxurious Taj Exotica Resort & Spa.
It will feature a dynamic format where each participant will have 10 minutes to prepare and present four drinks in total.
SIMDI revealed that participants will be required to bring their own tools and glasses on the day of the competition. The final drink must be prepared using at least 10ml of any Monin product.
Competitors will be required to thoroughly explain all homemade components, including the recipe submitted alongside with their registration forms.
The company revealed that the first place winner will represent Maldives in the Global Monin Cup 2024 Final to be held in France, in December 2024.
Further, the first and second runner up will win a trip to Monin Malaysia Factory, sponsored by Monin and SIMDI Bev.
Certificates will be conferred for the top 15 recipes, alongside participation certerficates.
SIMDI revealed that presentation, cleanliness, technical skills and drinks evaluation are included in the judging criteria and that penalties will be levied if the time limit is exceeded.
Initially, SIMDI Bev introduced Monin products targeting the resort market in 2010.
However, presently the product range is available to every consumer market across the Maldives, from home use to luxury five-star resorts, large coffee chains, specialty restaurant cafés as well as guest houses.
