MET issues yellow alert over some regions
 
All are advised to be cautious as heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected
 
The yellow alert is effective from 08:30am to 12:30 pm
 
it is issued from Lhaviyani to Dhaalu atoll

The Maldives Meteorological Service (MET Office) has issued a yellow alert over some regions of the Maldives, due to adverse weather conditions.

As such, MET predicts torrential rain with thundershowers to prevail over regions between Lhaviyani and Dhaalu atolls.

The weather over these regions are expected to be squally and the yellow alert is effective from 08:30am to 12:30pm.

Overall the department predicts fairly widespread rain with isolated heavy showers and thunderstorms over the entire country.

Further, winds will be from southwest to westerly at 6 – 16 miles per hour.

Winds are expected to gust 35 miles per during showers.

As the monsoon season is upon us, the department has urged everyone to pratice caution as heavy rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail.

Seas are expected to be slight becoming moderate during showers throughout the country.

Maldives capital, Malé City has been experiencing thunder showers over the past couple of days.
