Officers of the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) will make all the required sacrifices to save the Maldivian people from the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, says Chief of Defense Force Major General Abdulla Shamaal.
In a special address to the MNDF officials in commemoration of the 128th Armed Forces Day, Shamaal revealed that the occasion falls on very troubling times this year.
Highlighting that the Maldives is one of the countries that has had to face the repercussions of the pandemic, Shamaal revealed that MNDF officers are making a lot of sacrifices in their services to the people.
I would like to highlight that officers are spending several weeks away from their families and so I would like to extend sincere gratitude to these families. I would like to assure the people that MNDF officers will make all the sacrifices to save the people from this dangerous disease. At a time the infection is spreading alarmingly, MNDF officers are seen working on the frontlines to battle the pandemic, said Shamaal.
In this regard, he added that officers are active in operation logistics, transporting patients, managing facilities, preparing them for patients and several other work under field-first response.
21 April is celebrated each year as the Armed Forces Day in order to honor the country's defense force.
