Authorities are working to introduce an application specialized for contract tracing in patients positive to Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19).

This was revealed by the government’s Covid-19 task force’s spokesperson Mabrook Aziz who revealed that the app has been formulated similar to an app used in Singapore. The Singaporean government had openly sourced the app code so as to give access to developers around the globe.

The spokesperson further revealed that work is underway to formulate a Viber app specialized for providing information regarding the pandemic. The app will be made available for download within the coming days.

The National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) is also working to formulate a portal to collect data to acquire important information from household residents including the amount and age groups.

He highlighted that the authorities are currently using database that has been made available through the Department of National Registration, which limits the amount of information the authorities require such as the amount of people in households.

Contact tracing apps are being formulated worldwide and it paves efficient ways for manual work and provides efficiency in delivering information to the people during a time the Covid-19 pandemic has churned fear in the people’s hearts.
