Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) has reveled that the search for the missing 30-year-old Imam from JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa is ongoing and that a large region has been covered in the operation.
MNDF media official, Ibrahim Azim revealed to RaajjeMV that their team of coastguard divers have covered a large region and continue to scan the surface as well as depths of the water in search of the man, every day.
The Imam was reported missing a little past 10pm on 5 April and sources reported that he was last seen on the resort’s supply jetty, having a conversation on the phone.
MNDF has since revealed that CCTV footage shows the man diving into the water afterwards.
The 30-year-old is an Indian national, and the Maldives Police Service (MPS) is also investigating his disappearance.
A coastguard speedboat is active in scanning the surface of the ocean in search of the missing Imam, further, a team of divers is also active in the search and the man was wearing a white shirt and a pair of black trousers when he was last seen.
The coastguard has urged sea travelers as well as islands in the region to provide assistance in the authorities efforts to find the missing Imam.
