Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) has covered a region measuring 120,000 square meters in search of the 30-year-old Imam from JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa, to no avail.

The Imam was reported missing a little past 10pm on Sunday and sources reported that he was last seen on the resort’s supply jetty, having a conversation on the phone.

MNDF has since revealed that CCTV footage shows the man diving into the water afterwards.

The 30-year-old is an Indian national, and the Maldives Police Service (MPS) has also launched an investigation into his disappearance.

MNDF spokesperson Major Ibrahim Azim revealed that a coastguard speedboat is also active in scanning the surface of the ocean in search of the missing Imam, further, a team of divers is also active in the search.
