Covid-19: Maldives and Finland ready for further collaboration
FM Shahid held a telephone conversation with his Finnish counterpart on Friday
Both ministers stressed on the need to respond to the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic through joint efforts
Minister Haavisto thanked the Maldivian government for efforts to safely evacuate the nationals of Finland back to their country

The governments of Maldives and Finland are committed to continue cooperation and collaborate in promoting interest on areas of mutual concern, both bilaterally and internationally.

The commitment was ensured during a telephone conversation between Maldives Minister of Foreign Affairs and his Finnish counterpart, Pekka Haavisto on Friday.

As such, both ministers stressed on the need to respond to the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic through joint efforts.

They reaffirmed commitment to “continued cooperation” and collaboration in advancing interests on areas of mutual concern, both bilaterally and internationally.

Further, discussions touched down on the challenges facing both countries due to the global pandemic sweeping across the entire world at an alarming rate.

The pair briefed each other on the measures taken by their respective governments in order to combat the pandemic and deal with the unprecedented global health emergency.

In conclusion, Minister Haavisto thanked the Maldivian government for efforts to safely evacuate the nationals of Finland back to their country.

FM Shahid expressed appreciation for the cooperation and assistance extended by the Finnish government and conveyed that Maldives will always readily welcome the Finnish people once the situation returns back to normal.
