The total number of patients who recovered from the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) in the Maldives, has reached five.
This was revealed via a press conference held by the National Emergency Operation Center (NEOC) on Monday, where Dr. Mohamed Ismail stated that two more patients have recovered since Saturday.
Authorities revealed that the first two out of the 13 patients recovered from the deadly virus on Friday. After that, an additional recovery was reported on Saturday.
All five recovered patients tested positive to the virus earlier in March and have since tested negative to the disease since.
The first two patients recovered after treatment at Dharumavantha Hospital, one of them, a 70-year-old, was treated for severe pneumonia at the Intensive Care Unit as well.
Both recovered patients will be monitored for an additional 30 days, authorities added.
Up until Monday there have been 13 confirmed cases of the virus in the Maldives, all foreigners and from resorts; five from Kuredu Island Resort where the first two cases emerged and two each from Sandies Bathala, Anantara Dhigu and Island Safari 1.
As of Monday, there are five patients under monitoring after recovery.
