Despite the subsequent economic downturn of the Covid-19 pandemic, Universal Enterprises has arranged for three-month paid leave for all of the company's employees alongside Ramadan bonus and the previous month's service charge.
According to a press statement released by Universal Enterprises, the company stated that all employees will be remunerated according to the employment act.
The statement highlights that the country's tourism sector will be heavily impacted by the ongoing pandemic. Nevertheless, the company's employees are their biggest asset, reads the statement, adding that all decisions taken in such circumstances will prioritise the wellbeing of their employees, the country's economy and the future of the company.
As such, due to the fact that all bookings for the three months have been cancelled over Covid-19 fears, the company's board has determined to temporarily cease operations of all their resorts effective from April for the next three months as well.
Nevertheless, employees will be provided with a special package and will be given three months of paid leave, which will be reviewed each month, said the company, adding that they hope to restart operations as soon as possible.
Likewise, the company assured that all benefits and wages mandated by the employment act will be also provided without any deductions.
Further, they stress that the company aims to continue operations and recover from the effects of the pandemic without any layoffs.
