Covid-19: 81 individuals refused entry to Maldives, thus far
 
Mabrook revealed that all arrivals, not just Maldivians, from the United States of America will be quarantined

The government of Maldives refused entry to a total of 81 individuals after screening, thus far.

Speaking at the press conference on Wednesday night, Coivd-19 spokesperson Mabrook Aziz revealed that a total of 238,853 individuals have been screened at several entry points into the country thus far, Mabrook revealed that a total of 81 individuals were banned entry into the country and deported.

The government has collected 463 samples thus far out of which 450 samples have tested negative. Testing for more samples is currently underway, said the spokesperson.

As of Wednesday, 860 individuals had visited the Flu Clinic stationed in Senahiya and 237 individuals had visited the Travel Clinic with a total of 65 individuals having visited the Expat Clinic established in capital city Malé’s suburban district Hulhumalé.

Also at the press conference, Mabrook revealed that all arrivals, not just Maldivians, from the United States of America will be quarantined for a 14-day period, with arrivals from all regions of the globe to be placed under home-quarantine upon arrival in Maldives.

Highlighting that there are a number of Maldivian arrivals from Malaysia and other high-risk countries which have been hit by the pandemic, Mabrook said that the protocols set by the government are being followed. Families of these Maldivians have been urged to drop off anything required to be delivered to these Maldivians at Dharubaaruge.

Fun Island Resort has also been allocated for isolation and quarantine purposes.

Mabrook also revealed that 94,382 have received training in the training and awareness work being conducted by authorities.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Health Protection Agency (HPA) revealed that all Maldivians who arrive from all countries exempt from the temporary travel restrictions imposed by the government of Maldives, will be placed under home-quarantine for a 14-day period as well and that those who do not follow the regulations and protocols set by authorities will be fined a hefty MVR 5,000.
