The Ministry of Education has launched a teleclass programme to digitally conduct classes for secondary school students.
During a press briefing held on Sunday at the Ministry of Education, Minister of Education Dr Aishath Ali announced that the teleclass programme, broadcast via Public Service Media (PSM)'s YesTV, is targeted to students studying in Grades 10 and 11.
The minister stated that the digital classes for Grade 10 will begin on Sundays while classes for Grade 11 students - who will be sitting for AS-level exams in June - will begin on Mondays.
Further, she stated that these classes will follow the curriculum and that the time-tables for these classes will be shared with parents via the ministry's Twitter and Facebook as well as through the respective school's.
The digital classes will be held from 08:00 am to 02:00 pm, said the minister, adding that students will carry out their work while following pre-recorded sessions.
She went onto note that students will be provided with the opportunity to clarify doubts during an interactive online session. The ministry revealed that the Q&A session will be from 01:00 pm to 02:00 pm.
Moreover, the ministry revealed that these pre-recorded classes can be accessed through YouTube, Facebook and the ministry's online portal.
While schools are closed for the ongoing week and are set to re-open on March 22nd, the ministry stated that teachers assigned to other grades will be working throughout the week to prepare materials and scheme of work, in-case schools remain closed for an additional week due to the threat of Covid-19.
