New non-resident High Commissioner of the Maldives to Canada, Thilmeeza Hussain presented her credentials to the Governor-General of Canada, the Right Honorable Julie Payette on Friday.
The new High Commissioner presented her Letter of Credence at a ceremony held on Friday at Rideau Hall, Ottawa.
Following the ceremony, Maldives Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid extended congratulations to Thilmeeza on having presented her credentials to the Governor-General.
Thilmeeza was appointed as the new non-resident High Commissioner to Canada on 12 February by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
She is the first Maldivian female to have been appointed as the High Commissioner to Canada.
The new appointee also serves as the Ambassador of the Maldives to the United States and the Permanent Representative of the Maldives to the United Nations.
