India-Maldives Cultural Festival to be held in March
 
Popular Bollywood films will be screened at an Indian film festival set to be held in the capital city.
 
The festival will feature a contemporary dance performance and a week-long dance workshop by a group from India as well as an Urdu calligraphy exhibition.

The Indian Cultural Centre in the Maldives is set to launch a cultural festival during March.

Director at Indian Cultural Centre in Maldives Dr. Syed Tanveer Nasreen revealed to RaajjeMV that the centre has planned a cultural festival spanning over three to four months.

A chain of events will be held intermittently as part of the festival, said Nasreen, adding that the festival will begin in March but will take a break for the month of Ramadan.

Nasreen further revealed that these events include a contemporary dance performance and a week-long dance workshop by a group from India as well as an Urdu calligraphy exhibition.

Additionally, an Indian rock and roll band known as Parikrama is set to hold a show in the capital city, said Nasreen. The band is popular for their fusion music that incorporates classical music instruments from India with modern-day rock instruments such as the guitar, drums and keyboards.

Moreover, Nasreen stated that a film festival is also in the works and will screen popular Bollywood films. While no venue has been finalised yet, Nasreen stated that

Highlighting that the Indian Cultural Centre's mission is to extend friendship to the Maldives, Nasreen added that the film festival alongside other events will be open to the public free of charge.

The centre is currently conducting an acting workshop at the Maldives Media Institute (MMI) featuring experts in the field from India's best theatre training institute - the National School of Drama (NSD). The five-day is set to end on the 26th of February.
