A child sexual assault case unfolds from a north-central island

Another case of sexual assault against a child has emerged from an outlying atoll.
Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the case came into the light on Saturday, and implicated in the case is a 55-year-old man from a north-central island.
Although a specific island where the case emerged has not been specified, RaajjeMV understands that it could be from Kaafu, Alif Alif, Alif Dhaalu or Vaavu atoll.
Police received the report of the man sexually assaulting two of his step children. Both children are minors.
The case is undergoing further investigation.
Sources report that the man is native to Feridhoo island in Alif Alif atoll and he had been living there with his spouse and step children.
However, the children and their mother had returned to their native island following “harassment” from the man.
