Speaker, Former President and Coalition Leader Mohamed Nasheed is set to embark on a trip to Thiladhunmathi atoll during January 2020.

The Speaker’s party, main ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) made the reveal to RaajjeMV and MDP’s Vice President Mohamed Shifaz added that the official trip will be from 13 to 15 January.

The delegation of the party’s leadership, along with parliamentarians representing the constituencies will be visiting all the islands from Haa Dhaal and Haa Alif atoll during the trip.

Campaigns for the upcoming Local Council Elections 2020 is also set to commence throughout the trip, during which the Speaker will also be inaugurating the Northern Conference to be held in Kulhudhuffushi island.

Discussions regarding the trip were held through video conferencing on Thursday night, between Speaker Nasheed who is currently in the United Kingdom and senior officials of MDP as well as parliamentarians representing the several islands included in the trip.
