Fuvahmulah Hospital has provided treatment for the first-ever dialysis patient at its recently established dialysis unit.
While the dialysis unit was opened for service on 11 December, treatment for the first-ever patient was undertaken on Wednesday, revealed the hospital.
The hospital provides treatment for 150 – 200 individuals on a daily basis and the newly established dialysis unit provided services for three patients at once.
The Ministry of Health revealed that a Nephrologist arrives at Fuvahmulah hospital to carry out consultations once every three months, from southernmost Addu City.
Further, the ministry revealed that around 60 individuals are receiving dialysis treatment in seven regions of outlying atolls, currently.
