Minister of Tourism, Ali Waheed, has concluded his visit to Lhaviyani atoll as part of the Ministry of Tourism's assessment of the atolls for local tourism development.

As part of his official tour, the minister visited the islands from Noonu to Raa atoll. This included visiting the island councils, resorts and guest houses of Noonu, Meemu, and Raa atoll, in addition to holding a conference between locals and stakeholders of the tourism industry.

According to the Ministry of Tourism, the objective of these visits is to find methods to increase job opportunities for locals, as well as raise other forms of local participation in the tourism industry.

Moreover, the ministry aims to expand the benefits to locals from the tourism industry through "corporate social responsibility".
