Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has announced vacancies on the Civil Court and Criminal Court bench.

According to a notice released on Thursday, there are four vacancies on the Civil Court bench and one vacancy at the criminal court. Applicants must be over the age of 25 and have a first degree in Islamic Sharia or in the field of law to qualify, in addition to minimum two years of experience as a judge or lawyer.

The deadline for application is on December 2nd.

Both criminal court and civil court judges receive a total of MVR 45,000 per month as basic salary and living allowance. Furthermore, criminal court judges receive MVR 3300 as risk allowance whereas civil court judges receive MVR 1650 in addition to medical insurance and phone allowance as decided by the parliament.

The JSC, the parliament and the administration are currently making ongoing efforts to tackle problems in the country's judicial system and swiftly conclude cases submitted to the courts at an adequate pace. As such, parliament has recently impeached judges following disciplinary issues.
