The government is seeking a principal to lead the new school to be opened in capital city Malé within the upcoming year, “Izzudheen School”.

The Ministry of Education revealed that the deadline for applications is set at 1:30pm, 20 November and interested individuals may submit their applications to the ministry’s front desk or through e-mail by the set deadline.

Further, the ministry also announced applications for the post of Deputy Principal at the school.

Salaries will be allocated under the nine ranks set under the announcement. As such, the lowest salary is set at MVR 6,295 with a service allowance of MVR 2,500. The highest salary is set at MVR 15,560 with a service allowance of MVR 2,500.

The government earlier revealed that the new school will be built where Malé English School (MES) is located and was an initiative as part of the government’s vision to resolve the scarcity of space in Malé schools.

Izzudheen School will teach up to the 10th grade starting from 2021. It will teach up to sixth grade during 2020.

Three classrooms will be allocated each for grades between one to four, and two classrooms each for grades five and six.

Classrooms will have the capacity for 25 children and the ministry plans to begin teaching students from grades seven to ten from 2021 onwards.

Further, the new school will follow the set procedure other schools do in enrolling students. Parents and guardians are required to apply to enroll their children from grades two to six, via letter. The ministry will be prioritizing applications in the order they are submitted.
