The Minister of Environment, Dr. Hussain Rasheed Hassan has on Saturday held discussions on resolving the soil erosion issue, with the council of Thinadhoo island in Gaaf Dhaal atoll.

While the minister arrived in the island on Saturday, he was briefed on the several issues on environment facing the island community.

The minister held extensive discussions with the island councilors, assuring them that the government will provide an effective solution for the issue of soil erosion in the island, in the near future. As such, the minister is expected to sign an agreement, contracting a company to carry out a project, protecting the eroding region.

Further discussions included proper management of waste on the island. In this regard, the minister toured the island’s waste disposal site on Saturday afternoon.
