President briefed on development challenges in Fuvahmulah City
 
Councilors were detailed on several ongoing development projects such as harbor development and coastal protection
 
Issues facing the city’s fisheries and agriculture sector were shared

Development progress and future plans have been discussed between the councilors of Fuvahmulah City and President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

During a meeting at the President’s Office on Thursday afternoon, the president was briefed on the current development challenges surfacing for the progress of the city.

As such, difficulties in supplying sand for development projects in infrastructure, education system concerns and lack of resources and adequate facilities as well as concerns related to social housing were shared with Solih.

Shedding light on the current status of water and sanitation services, councilors stressed on the importance of establishing sports facilities for the youth community, developing businesses as well as proper waste management services.

Further, they shared issues facing the city’s fisheries and agriculture sector, which affects the community undesirably.

Details on ongoing projects such as the harbor development project and coastal protection projects were shared with the councilors during the meeting.

Solih also gave full assurance on the government’s part that the issues at hand will be tackled with appropriate measures after discussions are held with the relevant ministries.
