Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid has revealed that the Maldives Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand will be opened within the running month of October.
Stating that he highly prioritizes in carrying out the implementation of the country’s foreign policy in a way that the citizens can comprehend, FM Shahid stated that although the embassy is yet to be officially opened, it has begun operating and currently provides services.
Further, FM Shahid revealed his plans to undertake a visit to Thailand on 15 October.
The official inauguration of Maldives Embassy in Bangkok is included in the main agenda of the minister’s trip.
Once officially opened, the embassy is believed to pave efficient and effective communications between Maldives and Thailand, and its work progress will be enhanced with better services.
The minister is yet to publish details of his agenda in Thailand.
The embassy was established in Thailand in 2018, with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih having appointed Mohamed Jinah as Maldives Ambassador to Thailand during September 2019.
The ambassador is also expected to present his letter of credence to the King of Thailand during FM Shahid’s visit.
