Challenges and obstacles facing the development and progress of Raa atoll have been shared with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

During a meeting with the Raa Atoll Council on Wednesday, councilors discussed multiple spheres such as difficulties surfacing owing to the lack of a Prosecutor General’s office in the atoll, as well as complications in performing councilors duties due to the lack of space in the council premises.

They further stressed on the importance of a functional transportation system and inconsistencies in the details available on several development projects planned for the atoll.

Solih was also briefed on several development projects that are underway.

Taking note of all the concerns, Solih expressed that the government will work with the relevant ministries to provide a solution for the issues at hand.

Highlighting that the proposed amendments to the Decentralization Act will give atoll councilors the resources needed for the progress of their constituents, Solih assured that progress will be expanded across the entire atoll during his five-year tenure.
