Addu City has been in a drawn-out blackout for over five hours, the city’s mayor Abdulla Sodig has revealed.

Mayor Sodig revealed that work has since begun to restore power.

RaajjeMV understands that a big part of the city is plunged in darkness due to a breaker failure in the central power station.

As such, the power cut has extended across Gan, Feydhoo, Maradhoo Feydhoo and Hithadhoo.

Further, the mayor revealed that work to restore power began at around 07:30pm.
