An accident was reported in the early hours of Monday after a sports car crashed into a wall in capital city Malé’s suburban extension Hulhumalé.
The accident was reported at around 1am on Monday, when a speeding Ford Mustang lost control, skidded and crashed into the wall of STELCO building in the capital’s suburbs.
A witness at the scene told RaajjeMV that individuals inside the car at the time had been injured following the crash, however, the extent of their injuries is unclear.
RaajjeMV was unable to attain further information at the time of publishing as the police media official failed to answer the station’s calls.
Maldives Police Service (MPS) statistics revealed that 50 accidents were reported in the Greater Malé’ Region within last week alone.
Accidents have been observably on the rise since the Sinamale Bridge was opened.
Police in cooperation with several government institutions, are working to conduct awareness programs among the public to lessen the number of road accidents.
