Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has on Thursday presented newly appointed Honorary Consul of Seychelles to the Maldives, Lambert Bonne with his official Letter of Appointment.

During the follow-up meeting held at the ministry premises on Thursday, the pair discussed ways in which the relations that have existed between the neighbors of the Indian Ocean may be strengthened.

While the newly-appointed Honorary Consul of Seychelles was presented his appointment letter on Thursday, FM Shahid also met Maldives Honorary Consul General in Lebanon as well as Honorary Consul General in Thailand.

During the meeting, FM Shahid expressed his gratitude to Mohamed Hussain Fakih, Honorary Consul in Lebanon for the invaluable services he has rendered to the people of Maldives and the government.

He expressed his keenness to reinforce relations with the “brotherly” nation of Lebanon in the coming years, in cooperation with the Honorary Consul.

Also, the pair discussed enhancing cooperation on areas of mutual interest and strengthening people to people contact between the citizens of both countries.

Further, FM Shahid held productive discussions regarding further cooperation efforts with Honorary Consul in Thailand, Sanan Angubolkul to further the existing relations with Thailand. He stated that he is looking forwards to taking relations with Thailand, to new heights.

Discussed ways to explore opportunities for socioeconomic development, FM Shahid had highlighted the new heights that relations between both countries have reached since the inauguration of the new government in November 2018.

As such, the government of Thailand allowed on-arrival visa for Maldivians in Thailand.
