Small-interest home construction loans will be available in August, says Minister of Housing and Urban Development Athifa Shakoor.

The Minister said this at Monday’s sitting while responding to a question from Dhuvaafaru MP Ismail Ahmed.

The MP asked if the ministry will provide small-interest loans for construction of houses in Dhuvaafaru this year.

Minister Athifa said the central bank MMA and other state monetary authorities have been discussing issuing such loans in the last six months and that they are currently working on the final draft.

Highlighting that the new government has pledged to provide loans of 5-6% for the construction of houses, she said they will begin issuing small-interest loans in August.
