Faafu Atoll may be 'unsafe' for RTV journalists, warns Police
Five officers gathered outside where the RTV crew stays on Thursday, and warned of legitimate harm from Magoodhoo residents
They were asked not to agitate any islanders or partake in any activities on the island

Maldives Police Service (MPS) has said that Faafu Atoll’s Magoodhoo may be dangerous to the Raajje Television crew that had travelled there.

A journalist with the station said that five officers had visited them at around 19:55 on Thursday night, to warn them that residents of the island maybe complotting against them.

The crew was then asked not to partake in any activities on the island or disrupt the ‘state of affairs’ on the island.

The officers were given assurance that the crew would operate in adherence to the law, and would not violate the ambit of their constitutionally guaranteed freedom.

The station has been inundated with threatening phone calls warning to cease their reportage on Faafu Atoll.

Raajje Television had also reported continuous phone calls threatening to ‘kill’ the crew if they step on the island.

Two other journalists were also kept under police custody on Wednesday night, who were both kept from contacting anyone.
