Councilors of Gadhdhoo island in Gaaf Dhaal atoll have shared several development visions they have for the island residents, with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

This was done during a meeting held at the President’s Office on Wednesday where councilors discussed concerns raised by their constituents with the President.

While councilors shed light on the need to protect the reclaimed plots of land on the island, they also highlighted the need to speed up the airport project in the island.

Also, the island requires a road development initiative, hospital development as well as for the government to enable ways to develop local tourism in the island.

Further, councilors requested for the development of a children’s park for the younger community as well as to grant them permission to run agricultural and industrial procedures in neighboring Gan island.

Having listened to the island council’s concerns and urgent requirements, Solih assured that the relevant measures will be taken after holding discussions with the relevant ministries to address the issues at hand.

Solih had earlier pledged to include all islands nationwide in his development agenda for the next five years.
