President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih appointed two ambassadors on Sunday.
Aishath Azima has been appointed Ambassador to China and Mohamed Khaleel was appointed Ambassador to Saudi Arabia.
They received their letters of appointment at a ceremony at the President’s Office.
Aishath Azima was previously the deputy ambassador at the Maldives embassy in London and the additional secretary at the Ministry of Foreign affairs.
She began working in government in 1988 and has filled various positions and participated in various training programmes in Maldives and abroad.
Mohamed Khaleel was previously the Maldives’ High Commissioner to Singapore. He achieved a Diploma in Law and Policy at Jawaharlal Nehru University and has been working in government since 1983.
