Maldives First Couple, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and spouse Fazna Ahmed have hosted a special banquet in honor of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The banquet was hosted at Kurumba Maldives, on Saturday night.

While the Indian PM arrived in Maldives for a two-day official visit upon the invitation of President Solih early Saturday afternoon, he was given a grand welcome at the Republic Square in capital city Malé.

During his visit, Maldives and India exchanged several MoUs. The prime minister also addressed the People’s Majlis at a special sitting in the evening.

He was also conferred Maldives' highest honour on foreign dignitaries, the order of the Nishan Izzudheen.

PM Modi will conclude his visit to Maldives and travel to Sri Lanka on Sunday.

Taking to twitter earlier this evening, President Solih wrote that this day is a happy day for all Maldivians.
