PM Modi conferred with Maldives' highest honour
Order of “Nishan Izzuddeen” is among the highest ranking honours conferred by the State
During his visit, he first arrived at the President's Office to inaugurate a number of MoUs

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has conferred the Order of Distinguished Rule of Izzudheen, “Nishan Izzuddeen Izzathuge Verikan” to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

PM Modi was given the most honorable title conferred by the Maldives to a foreign national, following his arrival in the country on Saturday, at the President's Office on Saturday evening.

The title was conferred to PM Modi in recognition of the many services the Indian PM provided to cement the longstanding, amicable ties between the two countries, to honor the historic bonds and for the special priority PM Modi has accorded to the Maldives and the assistance provided for the country's development.

PM Modi arrived in the country on Saturday afternoon, fresh off his re-election as India’s Prime Minister for a second term.

His two-day visit is on the invitation of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and he is set to address the Parliament on Saturday evening.
