Three individuals have been injured after a battery exploded aboard a speedboat operated by Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).
Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the battery of the speedboat docked in a wooden jetty in Hulhumale had exploded with a loud bang after a spark while changing the switch of the petrol pump.
While three were injured, two had sustained serious burn injuries to the face and arms.
Media coordinator at the Hulhumale Hospital, Ashiya Solih confirmed that the three were rushed to the hospital at around 11:15 am and are being treated there.
