Institutions able to work together because of government's friendship policy: Minister

Need the entire government's involvement in battle against terrorism

Maldives police and defense force are able to battle terrorism because of the strong support provided by the government, says Minister of Defense and National Security, Mariya Ahmed Didi.

Minister Mariya made this remark in a tweet on Monday, writing that officers of Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) and the Police Service (MPS) are able to work closely alongside state institutions and government bodies in the battle against terrorism because of the government’s “friendship is power’ policy.

She added that the battle against terrorism requires the support of all government institutions.

The minister’s tweet follows a training program carried out in capital city Malé for officers of the police and defense.

Following the tragic terror attacks in neighboring Sri Lanka last month, Maldives has strengthened security measures.
