Maziya Sports and Recreation Club has begun preparations for this year’s football season.
An official from the club told RaajjeMV that they began training on Saturday evening.
Noting that all players besides Samooh ‘Samutte’ Ali took part in the first training session, the official said that Samooh was unable to partake in the training “as he is currently under the weather.”
Maziya Sports and Recreation Club has signed a number of prominent footballers for the upcoming season, including Ahmed ‘Benjo’ Haneef, Ibrahim Waheed Hassan, Ibrahim Mahudhee, Ahmed ‘Lily’ Abdulla and Hamza ‘Hampu’ Mohamed.
Some on the club’s former players have also signed with other clubs; Yasfaadh Habeeb with De Grande Amigos, Ismail ‘Messi’ Easa with TC Sports Club and Gasim Sammam with Club Green Streets.
In addition, the club has brought back coach Marjan Sekulovski. While the Macedonian coach is the club’s first ever foreign coach, he helped the club reach new heights in 2017.
However, he left in 2017 while the premier league was underway, days before his contract with the club expired.
Under his leadership, Maziya won 19 of its 31 matches in 2017; it lost seven and drew in five.
