The meteorological service has issued a white alert over the country.

The white alert was issued on Saturday at 6:10am and will last until 12:30pm.

Heavy rain, thunderstorms, and gust winds of 40 mph are expected in all atolls.

Speaking to RaajjeMV on Friday night, a met service official said they received report of swells in Male’ and Addu atolls earlier in the day and that there is a possibility of swells in various parts of the country in the next 24 hours.

The official said that the change in weather patterns will result in swells becoming a common occurrence.
