Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)’s candidate for Hoarafushi constituency, Ahmed Saleem has beaten his opponent and current MP Mohamed Ismail in the Parliamentary Elections 2019.
The preliminary results show that Saleem took the lead over the constituency’s current MP from the opposition, with a temporary result of 1,635 votes.
Ismail fell behind with 1,126 votes.
During the previous parliamentary election, Saleem lost to Ismail with a difference of 42 votes.
With a 59.17% lead over Ismail who followed behind with 40.83%, Saleem led all but one ballot box stationed across Hoarafushi, Uligamu, Thuraakunu and capital city Malé.
