'Prosperity' is only possible by working with government: Minister Imran
Imran said that the Adhaalath Party will always prioritise Islam and interests of the nation

Continued development and ‘prosperity’ can only be assured by working with the government, says Home Minister Imran Abdulla.

Minister Imran, leader of the government coalition’s Adhaalath Party, said this while speaking at a party rally at Makunudhoo island of Haa Dhaal atoll, on Wednesday.

Speaking at the event, Imran advised candidates running for parliament to align themselves with and support the government, as to ensure ‘progress for the people’.

Minister Imran also said that parliamentarians should be ‘clean and with integrity’; the constituency’s incumbent MP Anaara Naeem, a member of the party, is contesting in the upcoming election as well.

Imran said that the Adhaalath Party will always prioritise Islam and interests of the nation, as they have ‘always done’.

While the government coalition appears fragmented over competition for the upcoming election, the Adhaalath Party has been working with the Maldivian Democratic Party, the party to which President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih belongs and whose candidates he has personally endorsed for the election.

Adhaalath's candidate for the Kelaa constituency, Thooba Rasheed, has also withdrawn his candidacy and announced support for the Maldivian Democratic Party candidate, Ibrahim Shareef.

His decision has been lauded by the Maldivian Democratic Party and supporters of the government as a sure sign of unity within the coalition.

Jumhooree Party, also a member of the government coalition, has been working with the opposition 'Progressive Coalition', and has endorsed their candidates.
