The International Organization for Migration (IOM) will support Maldives through providing technical assistance and funding opportunities, says Chief of Mission of IOM to the Maldives, Sarat Dash.
Dash made the statement during a ceremony held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday, where he presented his credentials to Maldives Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid.
During discussions held between FM Shahid and the newly appointed Chief of Mission of IOM, FM Shahid reiterated Maldives support towards effective migration management as well as combatting trafficking in persons and ensuring human rights of migrant workers.

The organization is committed to strengthen its engagement with the government of Maldives in the coming days.
It has provided support to understand the gaps and strengthen border control and migration management in the country in the past.
While the country office in the Maldives was first established in April 2013, Maldives became a member state of IOM in August 2011.
