President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has expressed his wish to continue working for the mutual progress and prosperity between the Maldives and Pakistan.
Reaffirming the "close" bonds of friendship between both countries, President Solih took to twitter on Saturday, extending his greetings to the government, people and Prime Minister Imran Khan, in commemoration of Pakistan's 79th National Day.
Similar sentiments were reiterated by Maldives Vice President Faisal Naseem, who said that Maldives is committed to assist Pakistan on all beneficial spheres of engagement bilaterally, provincially and on the international arena.
The statement was given during a speech delivered at a reception held on Saturday to mark Pakistan Day, annually celebrated every 23 March.

Maldives Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid also sent felicitations to his counterpart in Pakistan.
In his message Minister Shahid emphasized on the cordial relations in bilateral, regional and international for a that both countries have shared over the years.
“I am confident that the close ties that exist between our two countries will be further strengthened in the coming years” wrote FM Shahid.
Pakistan Day remembers the passing of the Lahore Resolution on 23 March 1940 that eventually led to the adoption of the first constitution of Pakistan on 23 March 1956.
