If MDP does not win majority in parliament, could lead to rebellion: president
"History will repeat itself if we do not receive majority"
"Government needs majority to ease fulfill its pledges"

If Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) does not attain majority in parliament, it could lead to a rebellion, says President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

He said this while speaking at a campaign rally for MDP's candidate for Velidhoo constituency, and highlighted that if MDP does not win majority "the government will halt, pledges will remain unfulfilled and rebellion will yet again surface."

He added that that it is of utmost importance that the ruling party receives majority in the upcoming Parliamentary Elections in order "to avoid history repeating itself."

During his speech to the residents of Velidhoo island, he also shared some of the plans for the development of the island and its community.

“The work to develop a hospital in the island will begin soon. What the residents wish for the most is for banking services to be made accessible in the island. With the grace of God, we will upgrade banking services through the BML ATM on the island” said President Solih.

The parliamentary elections are to be held on April 6.
