Search party ongoing for Shima
The group of three men who were arrested while attempting to flee with the younger sister of Aminath Shima Nafiz, who went missing at sea in mid-February, have been remanded by 15 days.
Arrested on Sunday, the group included Ibrahim Fazeel, who had been operating the vessel and escorting Shima to Maamendhoo.
On February 22, Shima boarded a flight from Male’ to Fonadhoo and then attempted to travel to Maamendhoo on a dinghy being steered by Fazeel, who after the dinghy overturned, placed her on top of it and swam to a nearby resort.
On Sunday, the group of men, aged 22, 24 and 26, were arrested near Six Senses Resort while attempting to flee with Shima’s 16-year-old sister on a dinghy with their faces covered.
