Newly appointed Ambassador of India to the Maldives Sunjay Sudhir and Maldives Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid has discussed the various milestones achieved in the bilateral relationship between both countries since President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih assumed office.
These discussions were held during a courtesy call paid by Ambassador Sudhir to FM Shahid at the Ministry on Tuesday.
Highlighting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the Maldives to attend President Solih’s inauguration ceremony and the State Visit by President Solih to India a month later, FM Shahid and Ambassador Sudhir agreed that these visits have set the framework for future engagements.
They further exchanged views over ways in which the renewed dynamism in the relationship between both countries, may be sustained and further strengthened.
Thanking FM Shahid for the warm welcome, Ambassador Sudhir conveyed his commitment to work closely with the government and the people of Maldives to achieve the mutual interests of both governments.
The meeting was joined by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khaleel, Foreign Secretary Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed, and Director of India Division Mariyam Midhfa Naeem.
Ambassador Sudhir was accompanied by Political Counsellor at the Embassy of India to the Maldives Archana Nair, Defense Advisor Captain Prashant Handu, First Secretary Subhash Ramakrishna Pillai, and Head of Chancery Shitanshu Chaurasiya.
