Maldives places high importance on its relations with Spain, says President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

President Solih made this remark during the brief ceremony held at the President’s Office on Monday morning, where new Ambassador of the Spain to Maldives, José Ramón Barañano Fernández presented his Letter of Credence to the Maldives President.

During the discussions, President Solih had highlighted several avenues in which the Kingdom of Spain and the government of Maldives can take bilateral relations to the next level.

As such, the President highlighted spheres of development such as economic cooperation, tourism, fisheries and agriculture as well as renewable energy.

After the President congratulated the new Ambassador on the commencement of his term, Ambassador Fernández reciprocated his sentiments regarding strengthening relations between Spain and Maldives during his ambassadorial term.
